Explanation: ArcView GIS v3.x requires a patch to function properly in Windows XP.
The malfunction is related to use of DDE for inter-program communication.
|
Solution: ESRI has made a patch available that must be installed on ArcView 3.x installations under Windows XP.
When this article was written, the patch could be found at:
http://support.esri.com/index.cfm?fa=downloads.patchesServicePacks.viewPatch&PID=25&MetaID=470.
If the above link does not work, go to the esri / support / downloads pages and look for patches to ArcView 3.x - there is one called Windows XP Patch.
