Can not find CTL3DV2.DLL. Windows needs this file to run imw.exe

Background: One of the libraries used by Intersection Magic requires this file. It is usually installed on Windows computers, but not in all cases. When it is missing, a dialog box is presented that contains the message "Can not find CTL3DV2.DLL. Windows needs this file to run imw.exe". The title of the dialog is usually "Desktop" and the program will not run until the file is located.

Explanation:
The file ctl3dv2.dll is used to create the "beveled" look on windows and dialog boxes. Intersection Magic creates its own beveled look and therefore doesn't need the dll. However, a library used within Intersection Magic does need the file.

Solution:
We've made the file ctl3dv2.dll available for download.
It is zipped and must be unzipped in order to be used. Our suggestion is to unzip the file and place it in your c:\magic directory (or wherever you have Intersection Magic installed) However, Microsoft standards suggest it be placed in your c:\windows\system directory. Either place will work.
