Rate calculations

The method for calculating rates now allows for some "fudge factors" such as changing the number of days used for a year and other variables. These can be set in the Utilities / Configuration / Default setttings dialog box under Sys Settings. The method used to calculate rates used to use the entire time period when calculating the rate. This method is still available but a new method is available that reports the rate as a one-year calculation even for multiple years of data. The dialog box that enables this setting dynamically shows the different formulas.
Virtual locations can have rates calculated as well if volumes have been added for the locations in question. Their rates are calculated based on the type of location (intersection or corridor) specified when creating the location. The volumes data file may now contain dates. In the past, the volumes data file had to contain the volumes for the current study time period. Now these files can contain a third parameter on the line that is the date of the study. The program looks for the most recent date before the end of the current study period when obtaining a volume.
Critical rates are now calculated automatically when producing a high accident location list. The critical rate study group is all the locations shown in the report. |
