The mouse changes shape as the program runs.

Arrow - The arrow is the normal mouse shape.
Magnifying glass (solid) - The mouse appears as a magnifying glass when in a collision diagram.
Magnifying glass (clear) - When the magnifying glass becomes clear, the mouse is on the point of impact.  At this point, a left click will display the accident record.
Magnifying glass (+) - When you are zooming in on a diagram, the magnifying glass will have a plus sign indicator.
Magnifying glass (-) - When you are zooming out on a diagram, the magnifying glass will have a negative sign indicator.

Hourglass - The hourglass indicates wait.  This appears on the screen while the program is processing a command.  No input can be sent to the program in this state.
Hand - The hand is used in some dialog boxes such as the help system.  It functions as the arrow does in the pull-down menus.
