Schematics have been a part of Intersection Magic since the first Windows version of the program (v4.0).  A schematic contains two things:

The description of the curb-lines at a given location. This may be a built-in curb lne graphic, or a user created bitmap image.
The rules used to place accidents at various locations or 'areas' within a schematic.

Early schematics were built by Pd' Programming and were limited to simple 4 leg intersections and "T" intersections.  Newer versions of the program now come with over 100 schematics.  In addition, schematics can now be created and edited by end users.

Note: It is best to preserve the predefined schematics by making a copy prior to modifying a schematic.  The easiest way to accomplish this is to create a new schematic and use the "copy areas from" option to get the areas from another schematic.  Schematic files may also be copied and renamed using the built-in DOS or Windows functions.
