These files are also generated during the import process.  A new one is created and numbered (nn) during every import.  This file may contain messages indicating duplicate records, numbers out of range, etc.  Each message is accompanied by the line number in the input file that contains the data causing the error.  If there are any such circumstances, after importing you will be told to view this file.  This file may be deleted after viewing if there are no errors, otherwise they may start to build up on your hard drive after multiple imports.
